Our Christian Community

St John's has been a presence in the Bandon community since 1885, when services were held on the beaches.  

We are a joyful Christian community, committed to generosity and spiritual growth, and we express our faith as part of the Episcopal Church.

We believe the Holy Scriptures to be the word of God and to contain all things necessary to salvation. We have three sources of authority: scripture, tradition, and reason.

We trace our spiritual heritage to the Church of England and follow a liturgical form of worship found in the Book of Common Prayer. Our services are Rite II from the Book of Common Prayer and the Bible readings are from the New Revised Lectionary.

Everyone is welcome to participate in our worship and activities without formal membership. The only requirement for membership in the Episcopal Church is baptism by water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Holy Communion is open to all baptized Christians.
